Lake Havasu, Arizona
Arizona might be best known for its desert attractions, but it also boasts 400 miles of shoreline along Lake Havasu. Located in western Arizona between Phoenix and Las Vegas, Lake Havasu is a prime spot for fishing, recreation, magical sunsets, and views of London Bridge — the famed British span was reconstructed here using its original early 19th-century materials.
Must-Do: Getting out on the blue-green water is a must, and one of the best ways to do so is during a pontoon boat sunset cruise. You’ll sail through miles of coves, canyons, and inlets while learning about the area’s history and legends. Keep your eyes peeled for mule deer, bighorn sheep, and plenty of waterfowl.
Eat: Enjoy views of the Bridgewater Channel and London Bridge while dining at Shugrue’s, a 2024 Wine Spectator Award winner known for its California-centric wine list. The sprawling restaurant specializes in classic prime rib, steaks, and seafood, and offers a daily happy hour.
Day-Trip: Get your kicks in the heart of Route 66 in Kingman, a small city in northwestern Arizona that sits along the historic Mother Road. The town boasts more than 40 spots on the National Register of Historic Places, including The Powerhouse, an early 20th-century power station that’s now the Arizona Route 66 Museum. Don’t miss the Route 66–themed murals around town — and be sure to down a burger and a root beer float at Mr. D’z Route 66 Diner.
