St. Maarten/St. Martin
St. Maarten/St. Martin is a Caribbean island divided into two nations: one Dutch and the other French. The Dutch side of the island (St. Maarten) is more developed, whilst the French side (St. Martin) has a more relaxed Caribbean vibe. For an authentic beach experience, check out Grand Case, a small fishing village located on the northwest of the island (St. Martin). During the day enjoy water sports and, in the evening, dine at one of the oceanside restaurants along Boulevard de Grande Case.
Aruba
Aruba is one of the Caribbean’s best islands for beaches. It’s here that you’ll find wide stretches of clean beaches with powdery white sand and a glittering blue-topaz ocean that extends to the distant horizon. Eagle Beach, rated as one of the world’s top beaches, offers idyllic ocean views and relatively calm waters — making it perfect conditions for a serene sea swim.

With 23 miles (37 kilometers) of golden-hued shores, and a different beach vibe on almost every block, Greater Fort Lauderdale is home to some of the Sunshine State’s finest beaches. Stroll, cycle, or skate along Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, a nearly 2.5-mile (4 kilometers) promenade featuring outdoor cafes, shops, and art displays. While a bit north at Florida’s stylish (and aptly named) Palm Beaches, palm tree–filled avenues and fewer crowds await. With more than 120 miles (190 kilometers) of local waterways that snake along and in and out of the coast, sunset cruises and other scenic boating excursions are popular here, too.
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
Recognized as America’s favorite island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, Hilton Head Island is best known for its stunning beaches, natural beauty, and outdoor living. Its beaches aren’t just popular with humans, either. Each year, between May and October, loggerhead turtles nest along the seashores. You may be lucky enough to glimpse one of these ocean beauties in the wild during an eco-friendly kayak tour, along with dolphins, the occasional otter, and maybe even a manatee!
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach, also known as The Beach, is the centerpiece of the Grand Strand and a mecca for family fun. A 60-mile-long (97 kilometers) coastal strip, the Grand Strand traces the Atlantic Ocean and features a variety of beaches with soft sand and abundant sunshine. Highlights in Myrtle Beach include the 1.2-mile-long (2 kilometers) Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade, as well as the 187-foot-tall (57 meters) SkyWheel.
The Hawaiian Islands: Maui, Kaua‘i, and O‘ahu
Aloha vibes and the dreamiest of beaches await on Hawai‘i’s islands. But when it comes to choosing which island to visit, Maui, Kaua‘i, and O‘ahu are all strong contenders.
