Orlando, Florida
O-Town, the City Beautiful, the Theme Park Capital of the World. Regardless of what you call it, this Central Floridian city is home to dozens of thrilling activities for all ages.
Must-Do: EPCOT. Yes, suggesting a theme park as an Orlando activity is unimaginative. But a lack of imagination is the last thing you’ll experience here. Visit in the fall to embark on the epicurean celebration that is the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival (through Nov. 23, 2024). Nosh on delights like gnocchi smothered in vodka sauce in Italy and Japanese teriyaki chicken buns, and board the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster … but perhaps not in that order.
Eat: Don’t miss Hunger Street Tacos’ flavorful suadero (seared brisket) tacos topped with Chihuahua cheese and avocado salsa verde, which will transport your taste buds to Guadalajara, the birthplace of the restaurant’s chef and founder.
Day-Trip: Drive a little more than 50 miles east to learn about that giant leap for mankind — and other space exploration undertakings — at the Kennedy Space Center. Tour the Visitor Complex to see the spacecraft that transported Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong to the moon, admire the rocket skyline, and blast off into orbit in an astronaut-approved simulated space shuttle launch.
