Request First allows Interval members to keep their options open when making a vacation exchange. So how does it work, and how do you make it work for you?
With Request First, you can place an exchange request up to two years before your home resort week — and still travel to your home resort if you don’t receive a confirmation (but keep in mind that you can’t use Request First for an exchange after your home-week dates). Points-based members use Request First for exchanges. Upon logging in, start the process by selecting the Exchange tab ➡︎ My Units ➡︎ Place Request (next to the desired unit) ➡︎ Request First.
Two Examples When Request First Can Benefit You:
“My family owns a week in the Caribbean for check-in on Dec. 28, 2025. We would love to travel to a ski resort in February 2024, but I don’t want to give up my home week without first confirming my desired destination.”
Not a problem. With Request First, your home week is not relinquished until the exchange is confirmed. This assures that you can still travel to your home resort if your request is not matched.
“I love using my week in Hawai‘i in October year after year, but in June 2024, I want to trade it for a week in Las Vegas for a college reunion.”
Request First is your best option. If your request is not confirmed, you retain rights to your home week. The prepaid exchange fee will also be refunded.
